Ever since the first footage of the lunar landing by astronauts, there's been skeptics who believe that the whole moon hoax was staged. Finally, after three years of work, Discovery Channel's "Mythbusters" have put the myth in their aim. In an interview done in 2005, Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage were asked what myth they would most like to test. Adam answered that "Jamie and I have done the research, and figured that the only way to end the debate about the 'myth' of the Apollo moon landing is to go there." Though they did not go to the moon, they still decided to test parts of the moon landing myth to finally confirm or bust this myth. The show will be aired on Wednesday, August 27th, at 9:00PM ET/PT.
Since they could not go to the moon, Adam and Jamie settled on testing three parts of the myth: how light interacted with the lunar surface, how the astronauts appeared to move in the low gravity of the Moon and how items behaved in the airless void of space. They were in constant interaction with official astronomers throughout the whole study, so the results should be spectacular. Over the 40 years that the tape has been in existence, hoaxers have picked at the tape constantly, claiming that the tape was made in an Earth-based studio. Adam and Jamie, being the special effects artists that they are, decided that this would be perfect for them. Tune in to the Discovery Channel tonight for the results of their three year long study.
