The 2nd District court of appeals voted that parents may homeschool kids without a teaching credential. California estimates that there are about 166,000 home schoolers in California alone. Homeschooling is not written into california law like it is in 30 other states.

The 2008 SummerOlympics opening ceremony at Beijing were really a sight to see. An estimated $300 million dollars on the opening ceremony... with about 15,000 performers... the 2 hour festival was possibly the most spectacular scene ever... Click on the Title for a link of the story.

Today, August 9th, Actor and Comedian Bernie Mac died at the age of 50...
He starred in the TV-Sitcom "Th Bernie Mac Show" as well as the "Ocean's Eleven" series with George Clooney.
He died of complications of pneumonia and Lung problems.
As well, Hollywood Producer Bernie Brillstein died at the age of 77...
His movie credits include "The Blues Brothers", "Happy Gilmore", and "Ghostbusters"
He died of Lung Disease.
What a sad day for Bernies all over the world...

MASSIVE CHAOS
Okay... Maybe it isn't MASSIVE chaos, but since the start of the olympics, areas around China have started to erupt in chaos...
just today, two days into the olympic games, a blast in the XinJiang province killed two chinese, just weeks after another blast in the XinJiang Province killed 16 police officers at a police station. There has been no news as to who caused the explosions yet.
Back in Beijing, the father of an ex-olympian and the in-law of an Olympic coach was killed in a freak accident involving two americans, a chinese tourist guide, and a 47 year old chinese man. The attack happened at the Drum Tower in Beijing while the americans were visiting the ancient site. Officials say that this attack was probably not aimed at americans themselves and was just an act of terror. The 47 year old stabbed the americans and then committed suicide by jumping off the tower.
As well in the Tibetan areas, many pro tibet protestors lined the streets to coincide with the opening of the olympics.

Michael Phelps has knocked down 1 gold medal on his way to a career high of 10 gold medals. He is attempting to surpass the olympic record of 7 medals in one game.
The new medal count leaves the United States with 5 total medals, 2 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze. the extra bronze is courtesy of Lochte. The Venue was Men's 400m Individual Medley.
The Silver medal was given to Hungary.
South Korea's Taehwan Park won Gold in the Men's 400m freestyle. China's Lin Zhang won silver, pushing China's total to 3 medals. America's Jensen Larsen won Bronze, making the U.S. Total 6 medals. Park won with a final time of 3:41.86 with Lin Zhang trailing by .58 of a second.
