LA Hospitals Fined

A recent report states that 18 hospitals in California were fined for violating state health codes. They provided poor care and hygiene, which sometimes led to deaths of the patients. The violations tend from te California Department of Public Health. Each hospital is to pay $25,000. These 18 are just the recent in a few finings of more than 40 different hospitals in California. Some of the violations include, but are not limited to: surgical instruments left inside patients after operation, failure of inserting a catherer properly, failure to turn on a ventilator when a patient was being transferred, and medication overdose.

Director of the California Department of Public Health say that these fines are intended, "to improve the overall quality of care in California."
